Rules & Regs

A few rules that we ask you adhere too.

National rod licence: Anglers (aged 12 years or over) fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England (except the River Tweed), Wales or the Border Esk and its tributaries in Scotland, must have an Environment Agency rod licence. Although we cannot enforce the use of a national rod licence, we strongly recommend that you do have one. Fishing on the broads without a licence is not just a illegal but it is also risky, with the fine now set at up to £2,500. Enviroment agency baliffs and Broads Rangers are common on the rivers and we really don't think it's worth the risk. You can buy them online before you fish:  BUY ONLINE HERE

2      The period of hire for the boats is dependant on the time of year. The start time for your day is 8am and the finish of the days hire is 5pm or just before dusk. During winter months this will usually be about 4pm. Due to broads authority regulations the boats are not allowed to navigate the rivers after dark.

3       Buoyany Aids are compulsory for any angler under the age of 14 years and these will be supplied if needed. Although not compulsory for over 14's we also recommend buoyancy aids for all anglers and these will be supplied on the boat.

Use of fish as bait: The use of coarse fish (live or dead) for bait is legal in England and Wales except on certain named lakes in Cumbria. (So fine here on the broads) but; Fish taken for use as live bait may only be used on the water from which they have been taken. If we witness anyone bringing live fish onto our boats we will ask that they are left behind. We do not want to risk the spread of disease to fish stocks.

5      We strongly recommend the use of forceps which are at least 8 inches in length... the longer the better as they say! Another great unhooking tool is the Baker Hook out.
