We are a family run business with over 30 years experience in the Norfolk Broads boat hire industry. The George Smith & Sons boatyard has been established since 1910 with the fleet changing over the years from traditional yachts, wooden cruisers and more recently the range of Sheerline day cruisers. We can now also offer a range of hire craft for anglers. Our aluminium dinghies or moulded dory are large, stable and safe craft from which to fish. We offer boats that cater up to 3 anglers comfortably. All the boats are equipped with a 4-5hp outboard engine, oars for trolling or emergency use, mud weights and all the safety equipment needed for a safe trip out.

We offer the boats for hire on a daily basis or if you are staying in a holiday home locally, we can arrange a block booking at discounted rates.

The Norfolk Broads holds the same status of the National Parks and is one of the countries most diverse fish habitats. The Broads are home to many different species including specimen size roach, bream, perch, tench, carp and of course pike. The Broads have something to offer all anglers.

So, now a little about myself as it will probably be me you deal with when you hire a fishing boat from us.  I’ve been fishing since I was about 4 years old and although I’ve done the whole carp obsession thing for a time, the Broads has always been my main venue for this past time that we love. I can’t call myself an expert but I’ve caught roach, rudd and hybrids to well over 2lbs, perch almost 3lbs, bream over 10lbs, eels to 4lbs and numerous pike in the twenties. Thankfully I can now add carp to my list of Broads species! All of these fish  have been caught within an hour or so by boat from our base here in Wroxham. Unfortunately a Broads ‘thirty’ has eluded me so far but I’m still young(ish)!  I can’t guarantee you’ll catch fish but I always have my ear to the ground and will try to point you in the right direction.
